Aromatherapy is the use of scents and essential oils to remedy a physical or emotional state of being. Essential oils come from plants and flowers. They may be derived from the roots, bark, resin, leaves or flowers of a plant. Some oils are toxic when ingested or when applied externally in large amounts. Pregnant women, small children and those on medications should consult a health practitioner for advice on using essential oils for their situation.
